How to Get Everburn Blade in Baldur’s Gate 3

Step 1: Meet Commander Zhalk
Your journey to obtaining the Everburn Blade begins with a challenging encounter with Commander Zhalk. To assess your opponent, right-click on him or his icon in the Initiative Roster at the top of your screen and select “examine.” Here are some key details:
- Commander Zhalk is at level 8.
- He possesses 150 Hit Points.
- His Armor Class stands at 18.
- He has a 50% resistance to slashing, piercing, bludgeoning, fire, lightning, cold, and poison damage.
Step 2: Understand the Battlefield
Commander Zhalk is locked in combat with a Mind Flayer, which is your ally in this battle. While the Mind Flayer has fewer Hit Points than Zhalk (85 to be exact), it deals more damage. Your primary objective is to support the Mind Flayer while dealing with lesser foes.
Step 3: Deal with Minor Foes
Before you can confront Commander Zhalk, you’ll need to take down some minor enemies – two Lesser Imps and a Lesser Hellsboar. These foes are relatively easy to handle and will clear the way for your main challenge.
Step 4: Race Against Time
Time is a critical factor in this battle. You have only 15 turns to reach the Transponder at the north end of the bridge before the Nautiloid becomes inoperable. During this time, you must defeat Commander Zhalk, secure the Everburn Blade, and use the Transponder while surviving the encounter.
Step 5: Attacking Commander Zhalk
Directly attacking Commander Zhalk at this stage is challenging due to his high resistance. To overcome this, save scumming is recommended. Land hits with ranged attacks and focus on exploiting his vulnerability to force or radiant damage. Characters with spells like Eldritch Blast and Sacred Flame can be particularly effective.
Step 6: Utilize the Mind Flayer
The Mind Flayer is a key source of damage in this battle. Ensure it lands its psionic attacks on Zhalk. However, be cautious, as it may turn hostile once Zhalk is defeated. Work on reducing its Hit Points during the Zhalk showdown.
Step 7: The Arrival of Cambions
After several rounds, two Cambions will join the battle from the south. Your objective is to defeat Zhalk and secure the Everburn Blade before they become a complicating factor.
Step 8: Cast Spells and Use Abilities
Don’t hesitate to use spells and abilities to your advantage. Shadowheart’s Guiding Bolt and the Magic Missile spell can significantly enhance your damage output. Remember that only one character needs to reach the Transponder, and looting Commander Zhalk’s remains is essential to obtain the Everburn Blade.
